The annual Forbes billionaire list says Mexico’s Carlos Slim Helu is the richest man in the world, finally edging out Microsoft founder Bill Gates and signaling the rising wealth in developing nations.

Latest updates of Carlos Slim Helu : According to Forbes 2010, there is a new ‘richest man in the world’. In the list of World Billionaires, Carlos Slim Helu now takes top position among the world’s wealthiest people. In doing so he knocks the infamous Bill Gates from the top spot, which he had held for the previous 3 years running.

He is now second in the list, and Warren Buffett, is in third spot. Carlos Slim Helu is a Mexican tycoon and his fortune has risen $18.5 billion in only 12 months to reach an estimated $53.5 billion. He owns a $23 billion interest in America Movil, whose shares rose by 35% in a year.

Bill Gates, Microsoft founder, is now valued at $53 billion, a figure that’s also risen in the past year by a staggering $13 billion. He had held the title of world’s richest man for 14 of the previous 15 years.

Another American, Warren Buffett’s, wealth stands at $47 billion, with shares of Berkshire Hathaway increasing his fortune last year by $10 billion. For full story go to IBTimes.com.
