Naomi Campbell at the Roberto Cavalli Milan Show

At the Roberto Cavalli Autumn/Winter show at Milan Fashion Week, model Naomi Campbell stunned in a floor-length purplish beaded dress with a steep V-neckline along with black elbow gloves.

“If there was an Oscar for the world’s greatest model, then I would give it to Naomi Campbell, no question,” the Telegraph quoted Cavalli stating.

Indeed, the svelte model looked eye-catching as she paraded the ramp with the other Cavalli models in the evening-wear section.

Cavalli’s latest collection included a combination of mini puff-skirts, long-tiered maxi dresses and wide-cut trousers. The short dresses were mainly in shades of midnight blue, pink or turquoise and were designed with printed or inlaid fur.

The maxi dresses, on the other hand, had a Victorian-era feel with tops closed to the neck. The spike heeled boots of the models were furry leopard print, and even the sunglasses have flashes of crocodile and ostrich skin at their edges.

Prada Fall/Winter 2012 Menswear Show

Get starstruck on the Prada runway in Milan, Italy. Hollywood actors Gary Oldman, Adrian Brody, Emile Hirsch, Jamie Bell, Willem Dafoe and Timothy Roth appeared on stage to present the Prada Fall/Winter 2012 Menswear Collection by Miuccia Prada.

“It’s about power. But it started with the idea of characters,” Miuccia Prada said backstage to the NYTimes, claiming that when she called up a bunch of actors — that’s folks like Tim Roth and Jamie Bell — they all just happened to say “yes.”

Milan and Paris Preview of Men’s fashion week

Powered by Guardian.co.ukThis article titled “Men’s fashion week preview: a look ahead to Milan and Paris” was written by Simon Chilvers, for guardian.co.uk on Friday 13th January 2012 11.24 UTC

Those of you who are still dreaming of Christmas, wake up and smell the cologne – a new fashion season is almost upon us. Yes, the shows are about to start again and they will spring into life with all the new menswear. Once you get past the fact that it seems a bit impolite for men to go first, it’s really a rather exciting way to embrace your inner fashion god/goddess during the gloom of January. Here are some anticipated highlights of the autumn/winter 2012/13 Milan and Paris shows. Drum roll please …

Burberry’s tweetwalk

You too can partake in the fun with British mega brand Burberry who, for the first time at menswear, will tweet each look live from Milan before it goes out on to the catwalk. This means that effectively the invited audience will be the last to see Christopher Bailey’s latest ever-so-clever remixes of the coat and related items. Follow them @Burberry.

Burberry is also live streaming the show online – visit guardian.co.uk/fashion at 4pm on Saturday to watch. Set that reminder now!

All eyes on Raf

There’s been no more Dior talk since the pre-Christmas flurry of rumours that Raf Simons might be abandoning Jil Sander to take the top job at the Parisian fashion house, replacing John Galliano. It will likely start up again this weekend, though, when Simons shows his new Sander collection for autumn. Last season his models sported wet-look dos and baggy shorts, and wore money purses and wallets around their necks. While the collection didn’t win universal rave reviews, the python T-shirts are already selling like hot cakes – even Christopher Kane has one. Simons will also show his eponymous label on Saturday 21 January in Paris.

Kim Jones, take two

Last season in Paris, Mr Jones produced a stonking debut at Louis Vuitton. It was so good it bagged him the best menswear prize at the British fashion awards. These Jones-designed spring/summer pieces will soon begin to arrive in stores. Sign me up for the Serengeti sandal, which is so marvellously designed you can pack it flat – and who doesn’t want a flat-pack sandal? Meanwhile Jones and his team are gearing up for his second collection, which is unveiled next Thursday in Paris. Check back then for all the catwalk pictures from the show …

Prada, Prada, Prada

How do you follow up a spring/summer collection of golfing, rhinestones, Americana and floral cocktail trousers, plus an ad campaign featuring Michael Pitt? Well, on Sunday evening Ms Prada will show you. The excitement is palpable.

The Brit Pack

The British man of the hour, Jonathan Saunders, will stage a presentation of his expanded menswear collection In Milan on Monday 16 January. His clothes for men are already doing brisk trade at Matches in London. The following week, the British Fashion Council hosts the Paris Showrooms event in support of British labels, including E.Tautz and Lou Dalton, who will preview the collections they will show on the catwalk in London this February.

Front row watch

The shows, the presentations, the launches are all very well, but what about the front row? What will the show guests be wearing? You’d be wise to place your bets now on the number of Prada rhinestones that will photographed in the coming days. Similarly, expect high volumes of Givenchy’s spring/summer birds of paradise printed goodies (left).

Versace Children’s Store in Milan

Italian fashion house, Versace, has opened the doors to its very first children’s store in Milan, Italy. The new children’s boutique is dedicated to the brand’s “Young Versace” collection that debuted at the Pitti Immagine Bimbo fashion show in Florence last June.

“This is a high-end, glamorous and colorful collection in line with the brand’s essence, with a touch of rock ‘n’ roll. Donatella Versace strongly supports and is behind the project, we have a state-of-the-art technological platform and supply chain, and we directly manage our core business,” said Gian Giacomo Ferraris, chief executive officer of Versace SpA.

The collection includes clothes and accessories for both girls and boys from infancy to age 12. The Milan boutique contains exclusive pieces from the Young Versace line, which was first shown at a special international children-wear exhibit in Florence earlier this year.

Illy Temporary Shop in Milan, Italy

A temporary shop for the famous coffee brand Illy was recently created in Milan, Italy, by designer Caterina Tiazzoldi. The unusual shop invites customers in an unconventional white cube, having a 45x45cm-squared base, where they can enjoy coffee, as well as other products developed by the brand, “exhibited” in an unconventional manner.

Illy shop in Milan was developed using no less than 200 small reconfigurable cubes, that allowed the designer to create the perfect space for each of the brand’s products. This cubes were also the basis for building the table, desk counter, storage systems, and even the recycling bins.

The color palette is simple: the cubes are all finished in white in order to contrast and emphasize on the products displayed. The only element that breaks the pattern is a list of  colorful words, painted on one of the interior walls.  The overall design creates a  unique space, that plays with perceptions: “The system engenders from the walls and the ceiling, creating a disoriented expansion. The differentiated space dimensions appears to become one, transforming it into a game where user’s sight shifts from an object to another discovering the inside”- explained designer Caterina Tiazzoldi.

Comete Jewelry Store in Milan

Jewelry stores are particularly luxurious and refined. But when it comes to creating the proper environment for customers, adding details that inspire warmth is always a good idea. The original looking Comete jewelry store was designed by Studio Apostoli, a company also working in the field of concept design. With an experience in capturing the brand’s most relevant features and applying them to its stores, the design team made sure that Comete was centered on senses and emotion.

Comete jewelry store is located in Milan, a city defined by modern fashion and expensive tastes. The design of the store had to be in complete agreement with the feel of the city, while maintaining a strong human factor. According to the designers, “the idea was born from the claim of the well known brand Comete: “Romanticamente schierati” (lined up in a romantic way), that places side by side a rich intimate dimension of feelings and emotions and a rational and pragmatic attitude.”

The atmosphere is enhanced by a game of lights, which accentuate both the store’s products and the sale point. The ambiance color also changes from time to time, ensuring a higher flow of customers. The entire place becomes a fascinating gallery, where jewelery enthusiasts can enjoy the opulent “exhibits” at their own pace.
