Launched in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles, the new iPhone app “Chefs Feed” features a hundred restaurant recommendations from some of the top chefs, including Grant Achatz, Thomas Keller and Mario Batali — sharing where they like to eat during their off-time after hours. It promises to share the inside scoop of where Batali gets his carnitas tacos fix, for instance, and where Keller goes for the freshest sushi possible.
Washington DC, Seattle, Boston and Philadelphia are scheduled to be added by the end of the year. Unlike the volumes of anonymous restaurant recommendations made on user-generated sites like Zagat and Yelp, the Chefs Feed has the credibility of celebrity gourmet chefs known for their exacting standards, say the developers.
Brikk announced on September 29 the launch of a series of limited edition luxury iPhone cases, profits from which will benefit those in need around the world. The limited edition collection revolves around the theme of “Altruistic Precision” and is launched with the Trim series of luxury titanium cases for the iPhone 4, and iPhone 5 should it retain the same dimensions.
The cases are available in gold, platinum, ‘black DLC’ and ‘grey stealth’ finishes and cost from $3,000 (€2,200) to $4,500 (€3,300); and are initially only be available at Roseark shops in Los Angeles but product roll-outs in New York, Tokyo, Paris and London will follow.
The company is offering to trade Trim cases purchased before the end of this year for Trim cases designed for the iPhone 5 should the external design for the soon-to-be released phone differ from current iPhone models.
Brikk claims that for every Trim case sold one metric ton of rice will be distributed to “those in need through select NGOs.” No further information was given by Brikk in the September 29 statement as to how this rice would be distributed.
