Parliament has the powers to legislate: Shahbaz : The LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Mohamad said on Monday a petition in the Supreme Court on the Amendment Act 18 is constitutional and judicial issue and, therefore, irresponsible comments and observations in this regard should be avoided.

He said that the parliament as is the representative institution and have powers of legislation, the judiciary and the right to interpret laws and their role in ensuring the rule of justice and equity.

The Prime Minister said in a statement issued here, that people from all walks of life including civil society, politicians and make sacrifices are invaluable for the restoration of the judiciary and the rule of law and that he had absolute confidence that the judiciary would not give any decision contrary to the spirit of democracy and the demands of justice.

However, he must respect this decision, justice regardless of whether for or against a particular person.
